Highways and transport
As part of our planning application, we have undertaken a thorough Transport Assessment to determine what impact the proposals might have on the local transport network.
This report shows that, although the plans will lead to a small increase in trips on local roads, there is already significant capacity to accommodate additional journeys and the proposals will have minimal impact on highways.
The Columbia is well-served by a number of local bus services. The closest bus stop is located at Lancaster Gate, and there are additional stops to the south of the hotel on Baywater Road and to the west on Leinster Terrace. These provide services to routes 70, 94, 148, 274 and N207.
There are a number of nearby tube stations, including Lancaster Gate and Queensway, which provide access to Central Line services. Paddington and Baywater are also located close by. These provide access to Elizabeth Line & Heathrow Express and Circle & District Line services respectively.
The proposed development will provide cycling facilities and prioritise healthy and active travel in line with the London Plan and Westminster City Council’s Local Plan.
The proposed development is designed to maximise the potential for sustainable travel and will minimise impacts on the local transport networks through appropriate access, parking and servicing strategies.
Any guests arriving by taxi or coach will be dropped off to the front of the site, where there are single yellow line markings, which allow loading and unloading of vehicles.
